The people raising them are very nice, at the moment they have two litters of piglets, all born in August - and there is one runt - Wilbur, oh my if my daughter had seen him! I just wanted to pick the little thing up & snuggle it!
The fact that various people said just one strand of electric wire about 8" off the ground is all that was needed to contain them, was also attractive... But I was good, knowing full well I don't need something else to take care of right now; plus we would have a tough time sending them to slaughter, plus I'd need to buy a freezer (which I have wanted for a long time anyways) nor do we need large adult pet pigs!
Friends we occasionally farm sit for have a couple big pigs, their kids took them to the fair and had a blast! When I fed them their grain they were so excited I feared they would bust right out of their pen - nope don't need that! Although... maybe someday... it will be a new adventure to try myself!
