G is for Goat

G is for Goat. This is Esther May, and the start of my life with goats. She was a wonderful girl, friendly & kind, pals with my horse, and great with my children.A beautiful soul.
funny & true, they like to hike with us

Buster - carries a pack saddle & is learning to pull a cart, and  was my  son's  project,  but guess  who fiddles with him most? He is at the age where he is trying to prove something - some days he is the most affectionate fellow, other days he can be a jerk.

MaaMaa - mother to our young stock, and gives delicious milk
I love the goats, they are a lot of fun! They make us laugh, bouncing, jumping goats are hilarious, and new babies are so sweet. Each one has their own personality, and they are quite smart. The idea was to be a little more self sufficient, but we ended up being more of a pet operation, as we don't end up with a vast quantity of milk, and none of them are headed for the freezer.

  1. Hi Diana, found you via the A-Z. Your post about goats took me right back to my childhood, as one set of my grand-parents kept goats. I remember the one and only time I milked them, was very strange! And then to have that same milk on the breakfast table :) Thank you for bringing back happy memories.

  4. I really love goats - my aunt and uncle used to have a bunch of them but they had to sell them this year. I miss being able to visit them.

  5. How fun! It is impossible not to smile looking at these photos. I smiled even broader to read that you aren't planning to put them in the freezer. :-)

    1. Glad for the visit & the smile, nah, the freezer is an empty threat when the buggers get into the garden and eat flowers and veggies I don't want them to!

    1. Go for it, life is short, enjoy them! Secure fence is key, lol. Esther, my first one never was difficult to contain, she would stay inside anything - but two of the characters I have now occasionally find a way to slip out!
