W is for water. The first "w" to pop in my mind, was weather, it drives nearly every aspect of our lives on some plane each day. Yet intimately dovetailed with weather, is water. Earth, wind, water & fire - core elements of our survival.
I'm drawn the most to water & wind, always have been since I was a child. The sound of rain in the forest, or on the tent, or a tin roof. A gentle warm rain is so much fun to be out in. We all know we can't live without water, and as a general rule in the US we have easy access to clean drinking water all the time, and it can be easy to take it for granted.
A big weather event tends to elevate our water awareness quickly, especially one where we are left without power. Flooding, that queer state of being surrounded by way too much water, yet having none suitable for use. Or the devastating flip side of drought. Plants & animals either gasping from too much or too little.
Most days, we relish the water, a source of much joy, it's beauty and the fun we have playing in it.
This day and age, we humans like to be in control, but time and time again we see we can't really control the water
It's surprising how we take water for granted,
ReplyDeleteI drink water all the time instead of fizzy drinks and just the occasional coffee.
Enjoy your week-end.
Yvonne.
I'm sure your body is glad you drink lots of water! I make an effort, but often fall short - enjoy your week-end too, it's lovely here today & I hope it is where you are as well!
