J is for Junior Girl Scouts

J is for Junior Girl Scouts. It has been neat watching these 4th and 5th graders grow! They are full of ideas and enthusiasm, a delightful group. Most of them have been involved in scouting since they started school. There are SO many ideas of things we want to do, and so little time to make it happen, yeah, I know, that is life.

Lately we have been working on our Flower badge, we have made bath beads, planted bulbs, planted marigolds, studied the social meanings and significance of various flowers, put white carnations in colored water to see what would happen, compared our new badge to ones in older handbooks - we are nearly done, I think we need a field trip to a greenhouse.

I've learned a lot along the way, and had some fun too. An adult camp out to certify leaders for outdoor skills was a blast. Even CPR & First Aid training provide a laugh or two.

As they become older, I'm looking forward to them being able to handle more outdoor skills, and hope there is plenty of hiking and camping in our future! I'd like to see more outing in scouting, and I hope the girls agree!

  1. I remember when I was a Brownie and Girl Scout. Great memories. I learned to sew making Christmas gifts. I also marched in the Memorial Day Parades. Blessings.
